HI,can you please explain about intra-laboratory Comaprison.
How to do intra lab Comparison. If intralaboratory comparisons fails what to do?
    Awaiting your kind reply.

    • Hi Ansar,
Intra laboratory Comparison is one type of quality control and method validation technique.
As per ISO 17025:2017, below is the definition:
      Under clause 3.4
intralaboratory comparison : organization, performance and evaluation of measurements or tests on the same or similar items within the same laboratory in accordance with predetermined conditions.

This means that if a company has 2 or more laboratory located in a single building, it can perform intra-lab comparison.

I Will just explain a summary on How to do Intra lab comparison, which has the same process for inter-lab comparison.
      1. Assign a coordinator to organize the intra-lab
      2. Choose a scope to perform an intra-lab comparison
      3. Agree on the scope and schedule.
      4. Perform the intra-lab same as normal routine of calibration
      5. Review and analyze results.
      6. If results are not satisfactory (fail), perform corrective action and repeat if necessary.

      How to analyze the results?

You can analyze the results using a formula to compare the results of a sample/Device Under Test from a reference lab with your results based on measurement results and its uncertainty (one of you will become a reference lab).
The formula is called the En Ratio. See below
      En ratio for Interlab comparison

The result should be less than 1 in order to be considered passed. You may check this standard for further reading: ISO/IEC 17043:2005 “Conformity assessment — General requirements for proficiency testing”. This standard will explain more how the formula will be used.

What I can suggest is to implement the Inter-Lab, which is participating or organizing with other labs within in your area or city or country. If you are a calibration lab, the priority is the what we call PT (Proficiency Test). Same as Inter-Lab but there is a dedicated organizer, usually a national lab or a government agency that is assigned for this purpose.

      I hope this helps,
